It started with a pacifier.
One of our daughters could not let go of her pacifier. It was hard for her, and for us. So my wife and I made her a song, "Bye-Bye Binky", and played it every time it got hard. It worked, and she let it go.
That's when we understood something simple: a hard step gets easier when a child has a story, a song, or a game to hold on to. And parents need the right words at the right moment.
Who we are
I'm Refael, a dad of three girls. We are a small family studio. We started with Wigglemelon, our kids' song and video channel, and Big Kid Steps is the next step: books and tools for the big changes.
Why we exist
Every family goes through the same big steps: a new baby, the potty, the first goodbye at the door. We make something for each one, so the child feels big and the parent knows what to say.
What we believe
Kids learn through stories and play, and they need silly too. No lectures, no chores lists. A good book gives a child one thing to do and lets them see it work.
How we make things
- Our stories start from real moments in our own house.
- Every book ends with a page for the grown-up: what to say when it's hard.
- The same family appears in every book, so your child grows up with them.
- No tricks and no pressure. Only things we would give our own girls.
